Our Story

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

Matthew 28:19-20

How Becoming Began

Julie Herbst is a pastor’s daughter who grew up in a Christian home and believed she was walking closely with God as a follower of Jesus. But during a difficult trial in her life, even though she ran to God for comfort, she came to realize she wasn’t truly as close to Him as she thought.

In His great love, God allowed her life to fall apart—but He did not leave her there. Instead, He lovingly pursued her and connected her with a mentor and teacher who faithfully discipled her and helped her grow in a deep and authentic relationship with Him.

Becoming is Julie’s beautiful and engaging love story with God. Through six powerful lessons, the truths that transformed her life are now transforming the lives of many others.

The impact of Becoming is truly the power of God at work. Year after year, every study has produced the same result: people being drawn into a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God and discovering the joy of truly walking with Him.

God’s Rescue Plan

Shereatha Spencer is also a pastor’s daughter who grew up in a Christian home. Although she and Julie are the same age in biological years, they were far apart in their spiritual growth.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, Shereatha boldly guided Julie into a loving relationship with the Almighty God.

Shereatha is a powerful spiritual coach guiding individuals and married couples into relationships that honor God.

She is married, currently serving in women’s ministry at Boca Community Church in Boca Raton, Florida, and is writing a book about her mentor - her father.

With Shereatha’s guidance and God’s amazing grace, I began to be transformed. Each week, I grew more as God lovingly taught me one challenging lesson after another. It felt like running a difficult race—overcoming one hurdle at a time. That was the start of my journey to become more like Jesus and embrace who He designed me to be. I will continue Becoming for the rest of my life, with God by my side. Thank you, Shereatha—and to God be the glory!
